ACCESS to End-of-Life Care: A Community Initiative is dedicated to improving end-of-life care services for the San Francisco Bay Area's culturally and ethnically diverse populations. The organization, formed in 1997 by a group of experienced hospice nurses, social workers and administrators, has the following mission:
Improve the quality of and access to end-of-life care for underserved communities in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Advocate for end-of-life care that reflects a commitment to multiculturalism.
Provide education about death, dying, and grieving from a multicultural perspective.
Encourage culturally appropriate outreach campaigns which promote the availability and importance of end-of-life care.
Build an organization whose leadership reflects a commitment to multiculturalism and diversity.
